Dear Emelia,

I cannot believe it has been 4 months tomorrow since I’ve met your beautiful face. Everyday I hold dear the honor of being your mama. Sometimes I still can’t believe you are real.

You have changed so much since I met you on October 2, 2018. You were born weighing 8 lbs, 10 ounces and you were 20 inches long. You are now just over 13 lbs and 25 inches long! Your hair is simply amazing and now nearly 4 inches long! You found your hands weeks ago and are now doing a wonderful job of grasping onto things; you love grabbing mama’s hair, earrings, the kitties & the puppies! You have been “holding” your bottle for weeks now, and the other evening you tried to hold Dada’s drinking glass. Your newest obsession: YOUR TOES!!! Dada and I have so much fun watching you play with your feet and joining in the fun by blowing raspberries on your toes and your belly! You started giggling 2 weeks ago; I woke up one morning to the precious sound of my sweet Emelia giggling downstairs while Dada played peek a boo with you. Apparently, I am not as funny, however I have gotten 2 giggles now too. You love getting Riley and Bria kisses on your face and hands. Elle isn’t too into you, though you are trying to show her you are a loving sister. (Our puppies.)

You love watching Baby Einstein’s Mozart Episode on YouTube while sitting in your “Sit Me Up” chair, as well as laying on your play mat and kicking the piano with your feet. You are so intrigued with Mama, Dada’s & Nana’s phones and try to grab them. Uh oh - we’re in trouble! Just today you “sent” a silly message to a friend on facebook! You INSTANTLY smile when we pull out our phone and take a photo of you. On that note, you also are wonderful at smiling at Mama’s real camera as well. You are also incredibly chatty! You have so much to say, and I only wish I knew what you were telling me. Surely it must be about how happy you are!

You absolutely love being held and carried around the house; Some days it feels impossible to put you down. I try to wear you as often as possible, but most of the time you just want to feel my arms around you. You are so observant and love to learn as much about your surroundings as possible. We went to HomeGoods last week and I let you smell all the candles I was smelling and you seemed to enjoy them too. We shower and takes baths together often. I love feeling your soft, small body against mine - and you love it too. You often fall asleep in my arms in the shower - the sound is so comforting to you, so much so that we now run a white noise machine at night to the sound of a shower. Whenever you’re not feeling well, or are overtired, running the shower calms you almost instantly. You are sleeping like a champ! We put you to bed around 11, and you usually sleep until 5 or 6 am, only waking for a bottle. After your bottle, you fall back asleep until 9-10 am. Mama loves getting to sleep in with you.

You have such a “chill” and calm demeanor. Other people who adore you have remarked about what a good baby you are - and they are right! Other than when you have some gas and are a little fussy (I understand, gas doesn’t feel good!), you are such a dream. Last weekend we went out to dinner with all of our wonderful neighbor friends and you were loved on by many - and you did so well!

We could not be more proud of you, Emelia Grey. From the way you crinkle your nose and smile so big in the morning, to your little squeals when we play, to your strong personality when you want something and express it, and a million other little things that make us absolutely gaga over you. You are the most beautiful thing in the world to me, and I could not be more thrilled to be the one you will call Mama.

I love you so much, my little plum.

-Your Proud Mama
